Jeannine Alexander

Director of Scholarships & Programs

 

Jeannie Alexander, a proud native of Bellwood, Illinois, embarked on her educational journey at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, she furthered her education at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where she obtained her Master of Arts in Educating Adults.

With over 20 years of service in the transit industry, Jeannie Alexander currently serves as the Vice President, Rail Operations at Chicago Transit Authority, the nation’s second largest transit agency.  In this role she oversees over 1400 employees, while strategically monitoring operations, system-wide service impacts, and service planning schedules for special events. Her focus lies in implementing safe and efficient operational and administrative policies daily, especially as the agency navigates through significant construction projects and infrastructure expansions. Jeannie’s unwavering commitment to professional development, her profound expertise in transit operations, and her remarkable ability to lead and inspire teams have earned her the utmost respect as an executive leader within the transportation industry.

Jeannie takes immense pride in serving others through her memberships of Women in Transit (WTS), American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO Chicago) where she serves as the 2nd Vice President.  Her primary objective through these professional affiliations is to passionately work toward enhancing the quality of transit customers’ daily travel experiences while working to diversify the transit world and enhance leadership opportunities for minorities.  She is also a current member of the CTA Deferred Compensation 457/401k Board. 

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Jeannie is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated-Tau Xi Zeta Graduate Chapter. She serves on the Executive Board as the Third Vice President and various committees. Jeannie’s leadership style is characterized by her innate ability to inspire and motivate others, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the community where she resides. Jeannie is a valued board member and currently serves as Director of Scholarships and Programs for The Finer Alliance, Inc.
